November 5, (THEWILL) – Eligible Nigerians can now check their status for the Federal Government’s ₦50,000 National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI) through Moniepoint Microfinance Bank’s USSD channel.

Moniepoint MFB announced on Wednesday, November 4, that customers can check their eligibility by dialling 557327# from their registered phone numbers and selecting the option to verify their status.

Customers confirmed as beneficiaries will be guided through the process of accepting the support and receiving the funds directly into their Moniepoint accounts. The bank said the service attracts no additional fees and requires no extra documentation.

The intervention, led by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, is designed to provide financial assistance to vulnerable Nigerian households to help meet essential needs amid prevailing economic pressures.

Government Determines Beneficiary Selection

Moniepoint said it was among the payment providers selected by the Federal Government to facilitate the disbursement of the relief funds.

However, eligibility and beneficiary selection remain subject to government criteria and verification processes, which draw on verified national identity records and the National Social Register.

The programme is being implemented in phases across the country, meaning not all customers will qualify or be selected at the same time. Access to the ₦50,000 support is, therefore, dependent on government verification and selection rather than simply having a Moniepoint account.

Commenting on the initiative, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Moniepoint Microfinance Bank, Babatunde Olofin, said the bank was pleased to provide an accessible channel for eligible customers to receive the government support.

He said Moniepoint was deploying its technology and financial infrastructure to make the process seamless and secure.

Olofin urged customers to use only the bank’s official USSD code when checking their eligibility, warning them against unauthorised third-party intervention.

He added that customers seeking clarification could contact Moniepoint’s customer service team or the official NERSI helpdesk on 0700 022 2222.

Moniepoint’s Role In Government Interventions

The bank said its participation in NERSI builds on its involvement in other public-sector programmes, including initiatives carried out with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Kaduna State Government.

These interventions have included facilitating subsidised food distribution to more than 800,000 beneficiaries, supporting revenue collection for national fertiliser programmes and disbursing ₦3 billion in direct empowerment funds to 2,400 vulnerable citizens under an Ultra-Poor Graduation Programme.

Moniepoint also said its network of point-of-sale terminals covers all 774 local government areas in Nigeria, providing infrastructure to support the distribution of the relief funds across the country.

The bank said the network would help extend the reach of the intervention and improve access for beneficiaries in different locations.
