September 23, (THEWILL) – Nigerian defender, Oluwatosin Blessing Demehin, has joined Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray Petrol Ofisi on a one-year contract for the 2024/2025 season.
The club announced her arrival on Monday, sharing images of Demehin in the Galatasaray jersey after signing her contract.
Demehin began her career in the Nigerian Women’s Football League, playing for Sunshine Stars and Rivers Angels FC. She gained international recognition with the Nigerian Falconets at the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, which led to a move to French club Reims for further development.
The talented defender has since represented the Super Falcons at major tournaments, including the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games women’s football event. Her performances on the international stage have contributed to her latest career move.
At Galatasaray, Demehin will be part of the women’s team, while her compatriot Victor Osimhen will feature for the men’s side following his loan transfer from Napoli. This dual Nigerian presence at the Turkish club adds an interesting dimension to their representation in both the men’s and women’s teams.
Demehin’s transfer to Galatasaray marks another step in her professional career, moving from the French league to the Turkish Super Lig. The one-year contract gives her an opportunity to establish herself in a new football environment and potentially contribute to Galatasaray’s ambitions in domestic and international competitions.
