SAN FRANCISCO, December 04, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Army Council has approved the promotion of some senior officers of the Nigerian Army to the ranks of Major Generals, Brigadier Generals, Colonels and Lieutenant Colonel.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman.
A breakdown of those that benefited from the promotion shows that 29 Brigadier Generals were promoted to the rank of Major Generals, 95 Colonels to Brigadier Generals, 106 Lieutenant Colonels to Colonels and one Major to Lieutenant Colonel.
Among those promoted to the rank of Major General are, Brigadier General T.O.B Ademola, Nigeria Defence Attaché to China; Brigadier K.O Ogundele, Director Coordination at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College; Brigadier General O.N Ugo, Brigadier General A.O Uthman, Brigadier General M Bashir and Brigadier General M.M Mshelia.
Others include Brigadier General US Mohammed, Brigadier General I.O Ehiorobo, Brigadier General C.G Musa, Brigadier General C.O Ofoche, Brigadier General D.H Alli-Keffi, Brigadier General A Kigbu, Brigadier General Y.I Shalangwa, Director Army Legal Service and Brigadier General S.A Kazaure, Director General National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), amongst others.
Those promoted to the rank of Brigadier Generals include Colonel A.A Ayanuga, Colonel S.C Ogbuanya, Colonel F.O Ilodibia, Colonel E.F Oyinlola, Colonel S.O Oloyede, Colonel S Kawugana, Colonel F.G Dimlong, Colonel O.K Falade, Colonel I.Z Ohiaka, Colonel C.S Okafor, Colonel A Yellow-Duke, Colonel M.A Etsu-Ndagi, Colonel A.M Alechenu, Colonel Y Yahaya and Colonel I.G Lassa.
Others include Colonel P.A.O Okoye, Colonel A.O Oyelade, Colonel M.L.D Saraso, Colonel VE Emah, Colonel R.I Odi, Colonel WD Nasiru, Colonel L.A Jimoh, Colonel A.P Ahmadu, Colonel Q.A Ahmed and Colonels J.S Sura, amongst others.
Similarly, Lieutenant Colonels C.A Magaji, AA Bello, C.E Ugworji, CY Ufurumazi, K Imam, CE Aniorha, M.C Akin-Ojo, KO Kalu, A.Y Emakoma, M.A Dogo, M.G Udotong, B.A Adeshina and I. Sadiq, were promoted to the rank of Colonels.
Other promoted Colonels include N.C Achikasim, BI George, Y.D Ishaku, E.A Otseh and S.B Salisu, amongst others while Major U.A Musa was promoted to the rank Lieutenant Colonel.
Usman noted that the approval of the promotion by the Army Council for the senior officers marks the last promotion exercise for 2018.
