February 25, (THEWILL) – Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has described the presidential and national assembly elections that took place across the state as “a very good process” despite the late arrival of materials and fear of insecurity envisaged by most people.

Uzodimma, who spoke with the media after casting his vote at about 12:10pm in his hometown, Omuma ward 10 (Migrant Farmers Children’s Primary school), polling unit 010, on Saturday, appreciated the new technology deployed in the 2023 electoral process.

“This is a very good process using the BVAS. l came and within two to three minutes, I went through accreditation and verification and voted; my wife went through the same thing. I must commend the process, It’s a departure from what we used to have to a more prudent management of time,” Uzodimma said.

He, however, cautioned the electorates against faulting the election process, adding that the late distribution of materials by INEC officials was due to logistics difficulties, as confirmed by the officials, who complained that the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) failed to deliver on time.

He was happy that despite these setbacks and fear of insecurity, elections have commenced in majority of the polling units in the state.

He, however, expressed optimism that with the new technology deployed by INEC, the electoral process would be a great success, being free, fair and transparent. Also at the same polling unit, Chief Ferdinand Uzodimma, the Governor’s brother, who also cast his ballot, expressed satisfaction with the process.

The Presiding Officer, Mr Christian Igboanusi, explained that the late arrival of materials was due to logistics and transportation problems.
