BEVERLY HILLS, March 18, (THEWILL) – Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Monday formally filed a petition at the presidential election tribunal, seeking to upturn the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Atiku’s petition is timely as it is within the 21 days deadline required to appeal Buhari’s victory.
The candidate and his party, PDP, are praying the tribunal to annul and order fresh elections on the ground of massive electoral fraud and non-compliance with electoral laws or declare him winner of the February 23, 2019 vote.
National Legal Adviser of the PDP Emmanuel Enoidem told the media at the Court of Appeal, venue of the tribunal that the petition had been submitted.
Buhari was declared winner of the vote with 15, 191, 847, while Atiku came second with 11, 262, 978.
