May 09, (THEWILL) – Ecuador and Nigeria will play an international friendly at Red Bull Arena on Thursday, June 2, as announced by the Red Bull club on Monday.
Ecuador tied Argentina 1-1 in their final World Cup qualifying match on March 29 to clinch the final four berth for CONMEBOL, the South American Football Association qualifiers for the biggest football tournament.
With six goals, Michael Estrada led Ecuador in goals scored during qualification, tying for sixth place. Ecuador will use the friendly to prepare for the 2022 World Cup, where they have been drawn in Group A, including Qatar, Senegal, and the Netherlands.
New York Red Bulls II will face San Diego Loyal for the first time in franchise history before the match between Ecuador and Nigeria.
