Its daily allowance covers approved learning platforms.
October 1, (THEWILL) – Nigeria is bringing two everyday difficulties into focus this Independence Day through separate initiatives intended to make buildings easier to locate and educational websites cheaper to access.
The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has made a public digital postcode finder available, while the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and telecom operators have scheduled October 1 for the start of a free educational-data scheme.
For delivery customers, the post-code offers a building reference they can share alongside their address.
For eligible learners, the data programme promises up to 100MB daily for designated educational platforms.
The services are at different stages of public verification. NIPOST’s website and Android app listing are accessible.
Successful activation of the educational allowance on subscribers’ lines had not been independently confirmed for this morning’s report.

A Building Code to Share With the Delivery Rider
NIPOST’s National Digital Alphanumeric Post-code assigns an 11-character reference to an addressable building.
Its structure identifies the state, local government area, district, area, and building.
The public finder offers three search methods using a person’s location, a Google Maps link, or a typed address. It says no account or sign-in is required.
The code belongs to the building, so residents and businesses sharing a property can use the same reference.
Someone moving house would use the code for the new building. NIPOST says individuals can find, save, and share codes free of charge.
For an online seller, that provides a standard location reference to collect with an order. Its usefulness will depend on the building information being accurate and the delivery service being able to use it.
NIPOST allows users to request a code for a missing building and suggest corrections. Its Android app is listed on Google Play, while the website still marks the iPhone download as coming soon.
Nationwide completeness has not been independently established.

Free Learning Data With a Daily Limit
The educational scheme will provide eligible users with up to 100MB daily for approved learning platforms through participating operators.
Under this arrangement, known as zero-rating, approved educational traffic can be accessed without the usual data charge, within the allowance. It is not a general-purpose bundle for unrestricted browsing.
The NCC and Federal Ministry of Education jointly approve participating platforms. Eligible categories include:
- Digital libraries
- Learning-management systems
- Teacher-development resources
- Vocational-training platforms
The commission says several platforms have already been approved, but its statement reviewed for this report does not name them or provide a complete subscriber activation guide.
How far 100MB goes will depend on the content. The NCC is encouraging platforms to reduce advertisements and unnecessary data consumption, while monitoring availability, usage, and complaints.
