Nigeria Cannot Break Up – Oyegun

BEVERLY HILLS, September 17, (THEWILL) – At a time the Nigerian Army is carrying out an operation in the South-East to purportedly quench agitation for self determination by the separatist Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has stated that it is not possible for Nigeria to disintegrate.

While condemning all sorts of agitations for the break up of the country, he stated that the pride to be a Nigerian is greater than the pride of being a citizen of a tiny Republic.

The APC boss stated this over the weekend in Abuja at the celebration of his 78th birthday organized by the University of Ibadan Inner Circle Association members, asserting that the Buhari administration was building Nigeria to greatness.

He stated that although Nigerians were passing through difficulties in the present administration, the hardships were not enough for citizens to lose hope in the country, explaining that the present suffering was because Nigerians wanted to eat an omelette thus an egg must be broken.

According to Oyegun: “Yes, these are challenging time, very challenging time. No question about it. The foundation of our nation are being rocked deliberately. We promised change but quite frankly, change of the immediacy that we promised has inevitable to run against the kind of fight back that we are having today because – I think I need to emphasize this – the kind of President that we are lucky to have; because we have a man who is thorough even though he was military, being grounded in due process and insist on due process; because, we have a man as President, who insist on fairness, who insist that justice must be giving its due place, that everything must take place according to due process.

“The powers of darkness have taken advantage of this to fight back in such a massive way that they are beginning to threaten the very foundation of our nation. But let me say this with all the emphasis at my command that change there must be. That this nation will stay united; that the current new economic foundation that our president is so laboriously and painstakingly putting together, for a new economy that is based on production, not based on the cheap easy resources of oil.”
