February 01, (THEWILL) – The stage is set for an exciting Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final clash as Nigeria and Angola prepare to face off at 6 pm on Friday. The match will take place at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan. Nigeria comes into the match undefeated in their last three games, securing wins against Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau and Cameroon to progress to the quarter-finals.

Star forward Ademola Lookman has been key, netting two goals so far. Veteran striker Victor Osimhen, whose hard work has been critical to the team’s progress, will also be hoping to rediscover his scoring touch since his equaliser in the first game. However, William Troost-Ekong’s injury and the absence of Stanley Nwabali could impact Nigeria’s chances. Fortunately, some reports claim the Chippa United goalkeeper will return against Angola.

The Angolans have also won their last three matches against Mauritania, Burkina Faso and Namibia to book their spot in the final eight. Dangerous forwards Gelson Dala and Mabululu have shone, racking up five goals between them. In a boost for the Super Eagles, Angola will be without suspended goalkeeper Neblu, a major blow to their defense.

With a place in the semi-finals at stake, an intense and high-stakes battle is anticipated. Nigeria has historically had the upper hand, winning three and drawing five against Angola’s two victories in 10 previous meetings. But with both teams in strong form, this quarter-final promises to go down to the wire.

The winner will play the victor between Cape Verde and South Africa on February 7 for a place in the final. Nigeria and Angola know they must first focus on excelling in a crucial match filled with immense talent and title aspirations.
