BEVERLY HILLS, October 09, (THEWILL) – A Ramy Bensebaini early goal was all Algeria needed to keep their unbeaten streak going and put distance between them and the Super Eagles of Nigeria in aggregate wins.
It took less than 10 minutes for the North African side to get ahead at the Jacques Lemans Arena on Friday. Borussia Mönchengladbach left-back player Bensebaini pounced on a loose ball from a corner-kick to Algeria which the Super Eagles failed to properly deal with and punished them for it.
The Gernot Rohr Eagles put in a not too colorful shift but appeared to be a side in transition with a handful of newcomers sandwiched by team regulars. FC Midtjylland midfielder Frank Onyeka was handed his debut appearance in the middle of the park while Porto left-back Zaidu Sanusi made his bow for the West African team.

Algeria, on the other hand, was led by Manchester City playmaker Riyad Mahrez and Metz midfielder Farid Boulaya made his debut.
This win gives Les Fennecs a 3:1 head-to-head aggregate win over the Super Eagles which translates to a 75% win ratio.
Reacting to the loss, Rohr exhibited sentiments of positivity. “This is a very good test for us,” the German said. “There are positives to pick from a tough game like this. Now we have to recover well and start to plan for the next game on Tuesday against another tough team.”
THEWILL hopes these positives are obvious in the team selection and technical input from the bench when the Super Eagles confront the Eagles of Carthage, as the Tunisian football team is called, on Tuesday, October 13.
