SAN FRANCISCO, June 01, (THEWILL) – Despite the heavy military presence in the region, members of the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, in the early hours of Wednesday blew up two vital Chevron oil wells in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The affected pipelines, identified as Chevron Bibi Oil Well RMP 23 and RMP, were ruptured at about 3:44am near Egbema, an Ijaw enclave in the local government area.
Reports have it that oil major noticed the incident at about 4am following a drop in pressure during production which made it to immediately shut the wells.
Confirming the attack in its Tweeter handle @NDAvengers on Wednesday morning, the militant group said the wells were blown up at about 3:44a.m.
It boasted, “With the heavy presence of 100 Gunboats, 4 Warships and Jet Bombers NDA blew up Chevron Oil Well RMP 23 and RMP 24 3:44am this Morning.
“RMP 24 and RMP 23 are Chevron Swamp Highest producing Wells.”
Continuing its boast in another tweet, NDA said its success in the Wednesday’s operation showed that the Nigerian military were only good at harassing Nigerian civilians.
“This is to show the whole world that Nigeria Military is good in harassing innocent Civilians,” it noted.
