BEVERLY HILLS, February 21, (THEWILL) – Some abducted persons from the Government Science College in Kagara, Niger State have now regained their freedom, according to credible reports from the state.

Dozens of people including students, staff and their families were abducted by bandits when they stormed the school in the night last week.

Fifty-three persons were set free by the bandits after negotiations with officials but they are still holding the 27 students and 15 other persons forcefully taken that night.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ms. Mary Berje, told journalists Sunday night that 39 of those released were the remainder of the 47 passengers on board the Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA) who were kidnapped days before the Kagara abduction. Eight of them had earlier been released.

Government officials said talks were still ongoing to secure the release of the pupils.
