September 17, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Exchange Limited closed Thursday’s session on a positive note, with the All-Share Index (ASI) rising 1,523.59 points, representing a 0.62 percent gain, while market capitalisation increased by ₦1.18 trillion to ₦159.892 trillion.

The ASI opened at 244,791.79 and closed at 246,315.38, while market capitalisation rose from ₦158.714 trillion at the opening to ₦159.892 trillion at the close.

Trading sentiment remained positive, with 34 stocks recording gains against 23 decliners.

On the gainers’ chart:Collage of business logos including UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust, Betaglass, Consolidated Hallmark Holdings, BUA Cement, and Royal Exchange logos.

  • BETAGLAS surged 10.00 percent (₦465.00 to ₦511.50).
  • UPDCREIT soared 10.00 percent (₦16.00 to ₦17.60).
  • CONHALLPLC jumped 10.00 percent (₦6.70 to ₦7.37).
  • BUACEMENT rallied 10.00 percent (₦270.00 to ₦297.00).
  • ROYALEX leapt 9.89 percent (₦0.91 to ₦1.00).

MTN Nigeria Communications, HBM Nigeria Plc, Custodian Investment Plc, UAC of Nigeria Plc and Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, among others, closed flat.

The positive close extends the recent recovery in the broader market, with the ASI now moving further above the 246,000-point level.

The market enters the next session with positive momentum, although the wide gap between gainers and decliners still points to selective positioning. Continued buying interest in large-cap stocks and sustained gains among market leaders will be important for maintaining the upward trajectory, while profit-taking after recent advances could moderate further gains.
