New Directors Assume Duty At NCAA

January 21, (THEWILL) – The Newly appointed Directors for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority NCAA, has assumed duty as they have been formally handed over to by their predecessors.
Last week, the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika appointed and redeployed directors and key officers across three aviation agencies.
The new Directors, Capt. Chris Najomo is to oversee the Directorate of Air Transport Regulations, Engineer Ajiboye Isiaka, Director, Airworthiness Standards, Alhaji Adamu Wakili, Director Human Resources and Administration and Bahagio Agio as Director, Licensing and Training Standards.
At the handover and take over ceremony in Abuja, the Director General, NCAA, Capt. Musa Nuhu charged the new Directors especially those coming from the private sector to be patient and willing to learn the civil service rules to succeed in the mandate given them.
He said, it would take time for somebody who had spent all his life in the private sector to fit in and understand the public and civil service regulations.
To this end, Capt. Nuhu said, arrangements are being put in place for an in-house training for the new directors to assist them seamlessly fit into the system.
According to him, the new Directors are experienced in their various fields, promising that, they would use their many years and wealth of experience to positively impact the agency.
He said, Adamu Wakili, Director, Human Resources and Administration has 35 years of experience in the civil service and would use this experience to properly guide the agency to stay on the right path and move forward.
“We need experienced civil servants to guide us on matters of civil service rules and regulations to ensure that we keep the boat in the correct way, we don’t want to run foul of any government rules or regulations, it is a very, very good addition to the NCAA and we really welcome him.”
Other directors who retained their positions in the agency, commended the outgone directors for being team players, bridge builders and problem solvers.
In particular, the Former Director, Human Resources and Administration, Alhaji Ahmed Sanusi who they eulogised for his humility, loyalty and listening ears with a view to addressing any challenges brought to his attention.
In their various responses, the Directors, Human Resources and Administration and Air Transport Regulations, Alhaji Wakili and Captain Chris Najomo assured the NCAA DG that they would work assiduously to ensure the regulations are followed to the latter.
Alhaji Wakili promised to fit into the big shoes left behind by the former director and try his best with the support and cooperation of the DG.
“I consider you my boss, my leader and I promise to give you 100 plus loyalty, by God’s grace and ensure we go by the rules.”
On his part, Capt. Najomo said, the appointment came to him as a surprise and thanked the aviation minister for counting him worthy to serve his fatherland in this capacity.
“It is a well deserved appointment and I know that, I have a lot to do, I will work religiously with other directorates to get things done and am ready to work with everyone as a family to make sure we are on the same page.”
Highlights of the ceremony was the handing over of notes by the former directors to their successors.
