August 31, (THEWILL) – Reiss Nelson has joined Fulham on loan from Arsenal for the remainder of the 2024/2025 season. The move was finalised in the early hours of Saturday morning after Fulham submitted a deal sheet to the English Premier League to complete the transfer past the deadline. Nelson’s departure from Arsenal came following the Gunners’ late acquisition of Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea.
Initially, Ipswich Town were considered favourites to sign Nelson, but Fulham swiftly moved ahead in the race for the 24-year-old winger. This marks the second Arsenal Academy graduate to join Fulham this summer, following the £34 million permanent signing of Emile Smith Rowe earlier in the transfer window.
Arsenal also bid farewell to Eddie Nketiah on deadline day. The homegrown striker moved to Crystal Palace in a deal that could reach £30 million if certain add-ons are met. This transfer activity marks a significant reshuffling of Arsenal’s attacking options for the current season.
Nelson will not be eligible to make his Fulham debut in the upcoming weekend fixtures. However, he could potentially feature in Marco Silva’s squad for their home match against West Ham United, which is scheduled to take place after the September international break.
The loan move provides Nelson with an opportunity for increased playing time in the EPL. For Fulham, it improves their attacking options as they aim to build on their performances from the previous season.
