BEVERLY HILLS, July 20, (THEWILL) – Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Niger Delta affairs, has appeared before the house of representatives committee probing the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The minister got to the hearing room at 11:20am.
Akpabio was summoned by the house committee on NNDC after Joy Nunieh, a former Acting Director of the commission, levelled some allegations against him on Friday.
She had accused Akpabio of enabling corruption in the Commission and was after her because she refused to open the vault of the commission to him.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the committee, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has stepped down from the hearings after allegations of corruption were directed against him.
THEWILL recalls that last week, the acting MD of NDDC, Prof. Kemebradikumor Pondei walked out on the house committee investigating the NDDC.
He said the Chairman, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo is an interested party in the scandal,with past allegations against him.
