September 04, (THEWILL) – National chairmanship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Terhile Utaan, has solicited the support of the PDP G-14 group to clinch the seat, vowing to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

He stated that only unity of purpose can drive the party out of its current dilemma, noting that the APC’s bad governance has made it easy for the PDP to return to power in 2027.

Addressing stakeholders in Makurdi on Wednesday, Engr. Utaan said the position of national chairman of the party was zoned to North Central Nigeria in which Dr. Iyorchia Ayu was elected.

He explained that Dr. Ayu was suspended by his council ward from Gboko but insisted that his ward lacked the power to do so as a national officer.

While in court, the ward officials said Ayu was suspended for not paying monthly dues to the party for several years.

According to him, the former national chairman later withdrew the case from court, denying having hands in Ayu’s removal from office.

He explained that in the Benue North West block, Dr. Ayu is from Jemgbagh while he is from the MINDA axis hence he is in the race to complete the tenure of Dr. Ayu from the zone.

One of the PDP elders from Gwer East, Mr. Agber Humbe, advised the aspirant to be courageous in the course of seeking the position.

In Benue North East, Elder Atsaga Anemba from Ushongo Local Government Area described Utaan as a focused and dedicated party man who can deliver on the mandate.

He, therefore, agreed that zoning and qualification have favoured Engr. Utaan for the position of national chairman.

In his remarks, the immediate past acting state chairman of the PDP, Chief Isaac Mffo, commended the aspirant for finding the G-14 group worthy of consultation over his ambition.

He disclosed that the Jemgbagh block has endorsed Engr. Utaan to clinch the position rather than a Niger, Plateau or Nasarawa State person.

Speaking, one of the leaders of G-14, Chief David Amoh, agreed with the Benue North West and East endorsement and called for unity of purpose for the good of the party.

The leader of G-14, Dr. Laha Dzever, said they would hold a closed-door session and later present the aspirant to the leader of the PDP in the state, Dr. Samuel Ortom, for further action.

Earlier, the Chairman of Integrity Group, Mr. Sam Akough, noted that Engr. Utaan has all it takes to reposition the party at the state and national levels and called for support.
