Napoli Restore 18-Point Serie A Lead After 2-0 Win Over Atalanta

March 11, (THEWILL) – Napoli has further solidified their position at the top of the Serie A after a convincing victory over Atalanta at the Stadio Maradona.

Despite being fresh off their second defeat of the season against Lazio, Napoli managed to come back stronger with a solo effort by Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and an Amir Rrahmani header.

Atalanta had a rocky start to the game, with Teun Koopmeiners and Hans Hateboer out of action. However, Giorgio Scalvini and Davide Zappacosta made a comeback, providing some hope for the team. Unfortunately, their goalkeeper, Alex Meret, pulled out during warm-up with a wrist issue, causing Pierluigi Gollini to step in against his parent club.

Napoli’s victory was a result of some fantastic teamwork, with Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa winning the ball back in midfield, and Osimhen laying it off for Kvaratskhelia to finish. Atalanta made some attempts to fight back, with a few shots on target, but Napoli’s defence proved too strong. Ademola Lookman came in too late to make a difference.

Napoli, who have restored the 18-point lead in the Serie A standings, will now focus on their upcoming UEFA Champions League match against Frankfurt, while Atalanta will look to break their goal drought against Empoli next Friday.
