November 23, (THEWILL) – On Thursday night, Aurelio De Laurentiis, the President of Italian football club Napoli, underwent successful surgery on the medial meniscus in his right knee at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome.
The club released an official statement confirming that the 72-year-old, arrived at the clinic at 4pm and was discharged at 8pm the same evening after the procedure, which was carried out by Professor Pierpaolo Mariani. Doctors reported that the surgery went perfectly.
This latest operation comes just days after De Laurentiis attended the launch of a book, written by football agent, Mario Giuffredi on Wednesday. At the event, he commented on Italy’s recent victory over Ukraine, which secured their qualification to Euro 2024, expressing his belief that the Ukrainian team deserved a penalty.

The Napoli chief, also discussed past transfer opportunities, revealing that he had hoped to sign Ciro Immobile and Marco Verratti to play alongside Lorenzo Insigne. However, Verratti’s agent, insisted on a move to Paris Saint-Germain instead.
De Laurentiis also visited the Napoli training ground for two consecutive days this week, to oversee the first sessions under new manager Walter Mazzarri, seemingly ending his direct involvement in team affairs following the dismissal of previous coach Rudi Garcia.
