July 23, (THEWILL) – Reality show star, Mercy Eke, has revealed that her mother attempted to get rid of her before she was born.
The Big Brother Naija ‘Pepper Dem’ edition winner made the revelation during a chat with media personality, Chude Jideonwo.
She revealed that one of her aunties advised her mother to get rid of her pregnancy because she already had five children, four girls and a boy.
She explained that her mother used different tactics such as going constantly to the farm and climbing things that would make her fall just to lose the pregnancy but she never had a miscarriage.
The reality TV star said her mother, who told her the story, recently expressed joy that her plan to get rid of her pregnancy did not work.
According to Eke, her mother sometimes wishes that her aunt was still alive to see what that child has grown to become.
“When she [my mother] was pregnant, there was this aunty of mine that advised my mother to get rid of her pregnancy.
“She [my mother] already had five children and she became pregnant again. She has four girls and one boy. So, when my aunty came, she was like, ‘Ah! Emilia, is this another pregnancy? With all these children you’ve dumped here.’
“So, her statement affected my mother’s mental health. It really affected her that she wanted to get me out then. She used to go to the farm, she would climb some things so she could fall just to get rid of me but me, I stubborn na. I no go anywhere; I dey gidigba. Yeah, it is a true story. She wanted to get me off.
“One day, she [my mother] was like she wished that my aunt was alive to see what that girl that she wanted to abort that time has grown to become.
“She is happy with me. She is happy that she didn’t abort her pregnancy. She is happy that I didn’t die and she is happy she gave birth to me; like she took that risk even without anything. Now, my mother is one of the happiest people in the world. My mother is enjoying life. She wakes up and eats what she wants. She is happy,” the reality star stated.
