January 31, (THEWILL) – Neymar is set to miss PSG’s upcoming Ligue 1 match against Montpellier due to muscular fatigue.
The Brazilian has been in excellent form this season, scoring 17 goals and contributing 14 assists in 25 appearances. This has put him on par with teammate Kylian Mbappe and just behind Manchester City’s Erling Haaland in terms of direct goal involvement among Europe’s top five leagues.
PSG confirmed Neymar’s absence in a statement on their official website but did not specify when the forward would return to action. Despite Neymar’s absence, the reigning French champions still have a formidable attack with Mbappe and Lionel Messi included in the 21-man squad for the midweek match.
The French giants will be looking to bounce back from their recent dip in form, which has seen them lose to Rennes and draw with Reims in their past two league matches. Les Parisians’ lead in Ligue 1 has been reduced to three points by Lens, making Wednesday’s match against 14th-placed Montpellier all the more important.
