April 23, (THEWILL)- Jamal Murray delivered a game-winning shot as time expired, propelling the Denver Nuggets to a 101-99 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night. This clutch basket gave the Nuggets a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.
Anthony Davis led all scorers with 32 points and 11 rebounds for the Lakers, while Nikola Jokić recorded an impressive triple-double with 27 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 assists. LeBron James also contributed 26 points and 12 assists in a stellar fourth-quarter performance.
The Nuggets mounted an impressive 20-point comeback in the second half, with Murray scoring 14 points in the final quarter to finish with 20 points on the night. However, it was his fadeaway jumper over Davis as the clock expired that sealed the victory for Denver.
“If it wasn’t for my teammates, I might not even get to that shot,” Murray said after the game. “I did what I could today, I tried to pick it up on defense. It was a great team win. We all stuck together.”
With the series shifting to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Thursday, the Lakers now find themselves in a difficult position, having lost 10 consecutive games against the Nuggets.
