February 11, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich secured a comfortable 3-0 win against Bochum in the Bundesliga on Saturday, with Thomas Muller making history in the process.
Muller, who was substituted at halftime due to an injury, scored the opening goal in the 41st minute while breaking Gerd Muller’s record as the outfield player with the most Bundesliga appearances for the club.
Muller’s goal came after a close call for Bayern in the 15th minute when Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s header from a Joao Cancelo, cross hit the post. The lead was then doubled in the 64th minute when Kingsley Coman, powered through Bochum’s defence and scored after being played in by Jamal Musiala.
Bochum’s Janko made things worse for his team by tripping Serge Gnabry, in the 73rd minute, resulting in a penalty that the Germany international successfully converted to cap a truly scintillating display.
Bayern will now turn their attention to the UCL with a highly anticipated game against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Bochum will host Freiburg on the same day as Bayern’s next Bundesliga match against Borussia Monchengladbach.
