Mount Brace Keeps Potter’s Winning Run Going In Chelsea’s 2-0 Defeat Of Villa

October 16, (THEWILL) – Chelsea defeated Aston Villa 2-0 to maintain their perfect record under Graham Potter thanks to a double from Mason Mount and a brilliant goalkeeping performance from Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Sunday’s English Premier League match at Villa Park saw Mount score a goal in each half, but the Blues were fortunate to maintain their lead at that time due largely to a stellar performance from their goalkeeper, Arrizabalaga.

Before the interval, Kepa made several outstanding saves, with his block of a close-range Danny Ings header serving as the standout save to keep the clean sheet that he thoroughly deserved to finish the game with at the final whistle.

The result means that, more than ever before, intense pressure is mounting on Villa’s manager, Steven Gerrard, who will bemoan mistakes made by Emiliano Martinez and Tyrone Mings that could have provided Villa with the chance to get something out of the fixture.

Both teams are up for midweek EPL games, with Chelsea travelling to Brentford on Wednesday and Villa visiting Fulham the following day.
