September 23, (THEWILL) – Nantes pulled off a thrilling 5-3 comeback victory over Lorient in Saturday’s Ligue 1 clash at Stade de la Beaujoire. The visitors took an early lead through 17-year-old striker, Ibrahima Kroupi, who notched his first senior goal in the 6th minute. Nantes looked shaky but Matthis Abline equalised just before half-time.
After the break, the home side turned on the style. Central defender, Eray Cömert, put Nantes ahead shortly after the restart. Then Mostafa Mohamed curled in a sublime free kick to make it 3-1. Lorient hit back through Romain Faivre and Aiyegun Tosin to level the match at 3-3. Nantes restored their lead through Florent Mollet via a Moses Simon assist.
There was still time for late drama when Simon won and converted a stoppage-time penalty to complete a sensational day at the office for the hosts. The 5-3 victory lifts Nantes to sixth in the table, while Lorient are in 14th after throwing away the lead once again.
