Mönchengladbach Star Thuram Completes Move To Inter

July 01, (THEWILL) – Marcus Thuram, the French international striker and son of 1998 World Cup winner Lilian Thuram, has joined Inter Milan on a free transfer.

The Serie A club announced the signing on Saturday, revealing that the 25-year-old has signed a five-year contract. Reports monitored by THEWILL suggest that Thuram’s deal is worth around €6.5 million per season. He arrives at Inter Milan after an impressive season with Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach, during which he scored 13 goals.

Thuram’s signing comes as a replacement for Edin Dzeko, who recently joined Fenerbahce. The forward, born in 1997, has spent the last four seasons with Mönchengladbach before making the move to Inter Milan. The forward will now join forces with Lautaro Martinez in the club’s front line. Interestingly, Thuram had the option to join Paris Saint-Germain but chose to play in his country of birth instead.

His father, Lilian Thuram, had a successful career as a footballer, playing for Parma for five seasons and winning the UEFA Cup and Italian Cup in 1999. The younger Thuram decided to pursue a career in football, defying his father’s wishes for him to take up fencing or judo. While he is set to bolster Inter Milan’s attacking options, he may face competition for a spot in the starting line-up from Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgium striker, currently on loan from Chelsea, is in discussions to extend his stay in Milan. If Lukaku remains at the club, it could result in a battle for a starting position between the two forwards. However, Thuram’s arrival adds depth and versatility to Inter Milan’s squad, enhancing their chances of success in the upcoming season.
