March 06, (THEWILL) – In the late Sunday Serie A fixture between Roma and Juventus, Roma emerged victorious, thanks to a stunning second-half goal from Gianluca Mancini.

Despite hitting the woodwork three times and a red card for Moise Kean, Juventus fought valiantly until the very end but were unable to find the back of the net before referee Fabio Maresca blew the final whistle.

Jose Mourinho was back in the dugout for Roma after winning his appeal against a two-match touchline ban, while Chris Smalling returned from suspension. Tammy Abraham was once again benched in favour of Gini Wijnaldum in a more advanced role, supporting Paulo Dybala as a false nine.

Manuel Locatelli returned from a ban for Juventus, with only Mattia De Sciglio, Arkadiusz Milik, and Kaio Jorge missing out. Still, it was a game of missed opportunities for Juventus, with several chances hitting the woodwork or being saved by Roma goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

It was at regulation time that Kean was sent off, 41 seconds after he was brought into the game as a substitute, for a reaction foul on Mancini. However, Roma’s win moves them to 41 points and just behind Lazio in fourth place, while Juventus will have to regroup ahead of their Europa League match against Freiburg. Roma play Real Sociedad on the same day.
