September 15, (HEWILL) – The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) of the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos, has debunked reports that its operatives have arrested music promoter, Samson Balogun, better known as Sam Larry, and singer, Azeez Fashola, popularly known by his stage name Naira Marley, over the death of their colleague, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka MohBad.

Oluniyi Ogundeyi, the spokesperson for the Federal Criminal Investigation Department in Lagos, who spoke in an interview with newsmen, said the report is untrue.

“The report is false; it is a lie; no one has been arrested. The police did not arrest Naira Marley or Sam Larry.”

THHEWILL reports that the 27-year old singer died on Tuesday, September 11, in Lagos.

While controversies have surrounded his passing, THEWILL recalls that Mohbad had petitioned the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Alagbon, Lagos, on June 27, 2023, where he alleged threat to his life.

Naira Marley, the former boss of Mohbad, had allegedly incited Sam Larry and others on multiple occasions to intimidate and harm the deceased for leaving Marlians Records.

Sam Larry and Naira Marley faced backlash on social media after a video emerged showing Sam Larry and several others harassing Mohbad.

In the video, the late 27-year-old singer and Zlatan Ibile were on set for a music video when Sam Larry arrived at the scene with a group of individuals, singling out Mohbad, who hastily retreated in fear.

Amid accusations of bully and threats against the deceased singer, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in a statement issued on Thursday, by Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, directed investigation into the death of Mohbad.

While Investigation on Mohbad’s death continue, the Lagos State Police Command, said the body of late the singer, may possibly be exhumed for autopsy.

Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this during an Instagram live session with media personality, Daddy Freeze, on Thursday night.

“The Force PRO issued a statement this evening (Thursday) saying that investigation will commence and that’s what we’re going to do.

“If need be, the body will be exhumed. It’s not too late. The body can be exhumed and autopsy can be performed.

“The statement also states that people should bring whatever information they have to the commissioner of police in Lagos State. That’s because we don’t want to do hierarchy anymore. Take it to Force CID, bring it to Lagos Command. It doesn’t matter. We’re going to harmonise it within ourselves and ensure that justice is done”, said Hundeyin.
