Ministers, Others Donate $1.1m For North-East Stabilisation

BEVERLY HILLS, March 26, (THEWILL) – Ministers, presidential aides, heads of parastatals and others in government have contributed $1.1 million (over N451 million) to help facilitate the regional stabilisation of the North-East.

This was disclosed in a statement on Friday by Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi, the Special Adviser, Media and Communications to the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed.

“Mrs. Ahmed shared that those of them in the Federal Government of Nigeria have contributed US$1.1 million to the regional stabilization facility Nigeria window, in keeping with their longstanding commitment to ensuring stability and sustainable resilience in the North East,” the statement said.

It further said that the Federal Government was developing interventions to ensure peace, security and stability in the North-East and Nigeria as a whole.

“As the Federal Government develops the next generation of national development plans (Medium-Term National Development Plans, and the long-term National Development Plan – ‘Nigeria Agenda 50’), it is prioritising sustainable and inclusive development and ensuring specific interventions aimed at ensuring peace and security across the Nigeria, and on stabilising the North East region,” it said.
