May 28, (THEWILL) – The meeting between the Federal Government and representatives of organised Labour, has again, ended in deadlock on Tuesday, as members of the union rejected a new offer proposed by the government as minimum wage for public service workers.

According to Vanguard, representatives of oganised Labour walked out of the Tripartite Committee meeting after the Federal Government increased its offer to N60,000.

THEWILL earlier reported that the Federal Government, last Wednesday, increased its proposed minimum wage from the previous N54,000 to N57,000 after labour adjusted its initial demand of N615,000 to N497,000.

A source privy to Tuesday’s meeting in Abuja, said the federal government increased its offer by N3,000, thereby taking the whole amount to N60,000.

“We walked out again. Just now. They (federal government) added 3k. We reduced 3k”, the source said.

THEWILL, however, gathered that labour on Tuesday, shifted from the N497,000 request to N494,000 as the new minimum wage.
