February 11, (THEWILL) – After suffering a quad injury against Newcastle United, Everton defender, Yerry Mina, has been ruled out for more than two months. He was substituted in the 35th minute of Everton’s 3-1 loss to Newcastle on Tuesday, leaving them just two points clear of the relegation zone.
It is another unfortunate sidelining for the 27-year-old as a series of thigh injuries have seen the Colombian international manage to feature in only 10 English Premier League matches this season.
Everton will be without many players, with new manager Frank Lampard revealing that Demarai Gray, will also miss Saturday’s match against Leeds United at Goodison Park.
Abdoulaye Doucoure, Fabian Delph, Tom Davies, and Ben Godfrey are all unavailable for selection for Lampard. In addition to those, Vitalii Mykolenko, the left-back, will miss the game too, but due to illness and he is anticipated to return for the following game.
Thankfully, Lampard announced that forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be included in the squad. The striker did not play in Lampard’s first two games.
Ahead of his home league debut as Everton manager, Lampard supplied all the updates: “Yerry Mina is an unfortunate injury, which will probably be between 8-10 weeks.
“Gray won’t be fit for Leeds, hoping he’ll be back for next week. Delph is a couple of weeks away, Calvert-Lewin is in the squad for tomorrow. We’ve got options. They’re two big injuries for us at centre back, but we have players there to step up.
“They’re becoming tight and you always want to have a full squad, yeah we might have to adjust but we have to dig in.”
