March 03, (THEWILL) – Lionel Messi is set to gift his Argentine teammates and backroom staff with customised gold iPhones worth a total of £175,000, following their victory at the World Cup in Qatar last December.
The 24-carat gold iPhones, engraved with the last names and shirt numbers of the players, coaches, and backroom staff, were delivered to Messi at his PSG department over the weekend and will be given to his teammates in due time.
The CEO of iDesign Gold, the company responsible for crafting the phones, revealed that Messi contacted them a few months after the World Cup final with the idea of creating a unique gift for the team to celebrate their win.
Ben Lyons explained that the footballer was looking for something special and different from the usual gift of watches and that he was immediately drawn to the idea of gold iPhones inscribed with the names of the recipients.
Other footballers have also shown interest in iDesign Gold’s luxury products, with Neymar spotted wearing gold wireless earphones and Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech investing in a similar gold iPhone. Messi’s gesture to his teammates and staff is a demonstration of his appreciation for their efforts and his generous spirit.
