Mercedes Boss Wolff Interested In Investing In Ratcliffe’s Man Utd

November 03, (THEWILL) – Mercedes Formula One boss, Toto Wolff, has revealed he would be open to joining Sir Jim Ratcliffe as an investor in Manchester United.

Ratcliffe, owner of chemical company, INEOS, is set to purchase a 25% stake in the renowned English football club in a deal expected to be rubberstamped soon.

Wolff told the Press Association he respects Ratcliffe’s “values” and would “certainly look at” the prospect of being part of his investment group at Old Trafford. “If I felt I could contribute then I would consider joining him at Manchester United,” the Austrian said.

Ratcliffe has long harboured dreams of owning the Red Devils, the team he supported as a boy. His impending purchase of a minority stake is seen as the first step before potentially taking full control at United. Wolff acknowledged his “strong personal relationship” with Ratcliffe, referring to them as two of the “Three Amigos” along with Mercedes CEO Ola Kallenius.

In a separate interview with Sky Sports, Wolff reiterated he would be open to investing alongside Ratcliffe, though conceded any such move is “very far away”. He also joked he is more a fan of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola than United. Ratcliffe’s takeover is expected to be completed later this month.
