October 07, (THEWILL) – A dramatic stoppage-time double from super sub Scott McTominay earned a stunning 2-1 comeback victory for Manchester United against Brentford on Saturday.
The Red Devils were heading for what seemed to be another disappointing day in the office as they struggled for most of the match. At Old Trafford, the hosts fell behind in the 26th minute after Mathias Jensen capitalised on a Casemiro error to give Brentford the lead in Andre Onana’s near side.
Erik ten Hag’s charges were poor at both ends of the pitch. They lacked creativity for much of the game and hopes of a result looked faint as the match entered injury time.
However, McTominay, brought on in the 87th minute, sparked wild celebrations at Old Trafford by netting an equaliser in the 93rd minute before incredibly heading home a winner just four minutes later, in fairy tale circumstances.
The scarcely believable turnaround will come as a huge relief for Ten Hag after a difficult recent run that included a home loss to Galatasaray in their last UEFA Champions League tie.
