February 02, (THEWILL) – Kylian Mbappe will miss the first leg of the UEFA Champions League last 16 match against Bayern Munich due to a thigh injury. The French forward is expected to be out for three weeks, according to the club’s statement.
As THEWILL reported, Mbappe suffered the injury during PSG’s 3-1 victory over Montpellier in the Ligue 1 match. The game was filled with ups and downs for Mbappe, as he missed a penalty in the first half but the team still managed to secure the win with goals from Fabian Ruiz, Lionel Messi, and Warren Zaire-Emery.
The injury means Mbappe will miss crucial matches in Ligue 1, as well as a French Cup game against Marseille. The PSG versus Bayern Munich match will take place on February 14th, and the return leg is scheduled for March 8th. Manager Christophe Galtier will be closely monitoring the progress of his star player, who has scored 13 goals in the league so far this season.
The statement from the club read: “After undergoing tests, Kylian Mbappé suffered an injury to the left thigh at the level of the femoral biceps. He is expected to be out of action for three weeks.”
His absence will be significant for PSG, as they look to make a deep run in the UCL. Still, the club has a strong squad even if the upcoming match against Bayern Munich is sure to be a tough challenge. Les Parisiens and their fans will be eagerly waiting for Mbappe’s return, hoping that he can continue his impressive form and help the team reach their goals this season.
