February 13, (THEWILL) – Paris Saint-Germain will have some much-needed reinforcements for their UEFA Champions League round of 16 match against Bayern Munich, as star forward, Kylian Mbappé, is set to return to the squad sooner than expected after recovering from a hamstring injury.
The club had initially stated that Mbappé would be out for three weeks, but he was seen training with his team-mates over the weekend and could feature in the match on Tuesday.
PSG coach, Christophe Galtier, had previously stated that he would take “zero risk” with the French star, but Neymar hinted that Mbappé might play in the crucial match. Neymar stated that Mbappé is an extremely important player and “a great player” and that when the three of them (Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Mbappé) are together and feel very strong.
While Neymar is confident about Mbappé’s return, Lionel Messi is still a doubt for the match, as he has just returned from his own injury. PSG will be hoping to turn their fortunes around after losing their last two games, a 2-1 defeat to Marseille in the French Cup and a 3-1 loss to Monaco in Ligue 1.
The return of two of their three biggest stars could give them the boost they need to secure a positive result against Bayern Munich, who are witnessing a resurgence of their own in the Bundesliga.
