Maulud:Gov.Abba Yusuf Declares Today Public Holiday

October 4, (THEWILL) – Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has declared today,Wednesday, as Public Holiday to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad(PBUH).

This is contained in a statement issued this morning by the State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs,Baba Halilu Dantiye.

“Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has declared tomorrow Wednesday, October 4, 2023 as Public Holiday in commoration of the birth of the noble prophet of Allah, Muhammad Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,” the statement said.

Dantiye said the Governor urged the people of the state to use the occassion “to reflect on the teachings of our noble Prophet and imbibe them in their daily affairs.”

He also urged the people to pray fervently for peace and prosperity to reign in Kano State and Nigeria.

“He also prayed to Allah to see us through this tough period and bless us with bumper havest in this rainy season and the coming dry farming season,” the commissioner added.

THEWILL reports that the State is already awash with celebrations in commemoration of the birth of the Prophet (PBUH) featuring readings from the Holy Qur’an and the sayings of the Prophet(Hadith), among others.

The celebrations,known as TAKUTAHA, also include wearing of new clothes(especially by children), as well as slaughtering of chicken used to cook sumptuous meals which are eaten and shared among fellow Muslim faithful, friends and neighbours.
