November 24, (THEWILL) – Manchester United have been dealt another injury blow as midfielder Mason Mount faces a fresh spell on the sidelines. Mount, who missed several games earlier this campaign, has struggled for continuity since arriving from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Manager Erik ten Hag confirmed on Friday, that the England international has picked up a new injury issue. Mount will, therefore, miss Sunday’s English Premier League clash with Everton, with United hopeful he can return before 2023 ends.

The 24-year-old will be eager to make his comeback quickly to register his first goal or assist this season. Mount’s absence leaves United light in midfield, with only Scott McTominay, Bruno Fernandes, Sofyan Amrabat and Hannibal Mejbri available alongside Ten Hag’s depleted defence.

However, 18-year-old talent Kobbie Mainoo could receive more opportunities after returning from injury himself recently. Mainoo impressed in pre-season before getting sidelined and earned England Under-19 caps over the international break.

United have endured terrible luck with injuries so far this campaign. With the squad stretched, Ten Hag will hope Mount and other sidelined stars like Andre Onana, Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, Rasmund Hojlund and Casemiro can return as soon as possible amid a hectic festive run.
