September 29, (THEWILL) – Manchester United forward, Antony, will resume training with the club and be available for selection whilst inquiries continue into allegations of domestic abuse made against him, the English Premier League side announced on Friday.
The Brazilian winger has not trained at United’s Carrington headquarters or featured in a match since the claims were first made public earlier in September by his ex-partner Gabriela Cavallin. Further accusations have since emerged.
Antony denies the allegations. He has cooperated with police investigations in both Brazil and the UK up to this point, and will continue to do so, according to the club’s statement.
United said they condemn all acts of violence and abuse. They recognised the importance of protecting all involved, and would keep Antony’s availability for selection under review given the ongoing inquiries.
The player himself previously said he was innocent and eager to return to action as soon as possible. United face Crystal Palace on Saturday, then UEFA Champions League opponents Galatasaray next week.
