Man Utd Turn Down £20m Bid For Maguire From West Ham

July 28, (THEWILL) – Manchester United have reportedly rejected a £20 million bid from West Ham United for their defender, Harry Maguire, according to sources monitored by THEWILL.

During the 2022/2023 season, Maguire experienced a fall from grace under manager, Erik ten Hag, having made only eight English Premier League starts. Subsequently, he was stripped of the captaincy, with Bruno Fernandes handed the armband in his stead.

While Ten Hag suggested to Maguire that exploring a move away from Old Trafford might be in everyone’s best interest during the summer transfer window, the centre-back has remained resolute in his desire to stay and compete for a spot in the manager’s plans.

Tottenham Hotspur had initially expressed interest in acquiring Maguire’s services, and now West Ham have joined the race, identifying him as an ideal defensive reinforcement. However, United have made it clear that the player is available for the right price, and West Ham’s £20 million offer fell short of the club’s valuation.

While the Hammers are considering a permanent deal for Maguire, they are also contemplating a loan offer for the Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay. McTominay is seen as a potential replacement for Declan Rice, who recently departed for Arsenal in a British record deal this month. West Ham’s pursuit of midfield reinforcements is evident, as they faced rejection with a £50 million bid for Fulham’s Joao Palhinha and have conveyed their interest in paying £40 million for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher.
