January 14, (THEWILL) – Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur played out an entertaining 2-2 English Premier League draw, at Old Trafford, late on Sunday.
Despite being outfought at times, United went ahead early through striker Rasmus Hojlund’s predatory finish. However, Tottenham soon responded with Richarlison climbing highest to head in an equaliser from a corner.
The frantic pace continued as Marcus Rashford exchanged passes with Hojlund before firing United back into the lead right on half-time. Yet just a minute after the break, Rodrigo Bentancur levelled things again for Spurs following good work from Cristian Romero.
Both sides had chances to find a late winner but could not be separated in an end-to-end contest. The result sees Tottenham remain outside the Champions League places while United move up to seventh.
Among the Old Trafford crowd was Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s new minority shareholder after his high-profile investment. While he did not see a home win, Ratcliffe nevertheless witnessed an entertaining game between two of the EPL’s big sides.
