July 14, (THEWILL) – Manchester United have reportedly rejected an initial offer from Galatasaray for midfielder Fred.
The Brazilian player has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford and is said to be exploring his options. While United is willing to part ways with the 30-year-old, they are seeking a transfer fee of over £20m, which Galatasaray’s opening proposal failed to meet. Other clubs, including Fulham, Nottingham Forest, and Roma, have shown interest in Fred, but United’s valuation could pose a challenge.
Saudi Arabia is currently showing the most concrete interest, although Fred has not made a decision on leaving United this summer. The Brazilian, who made 56 appearances in all competitions last season, finds himself lower in the pecking order following the arrival of Mason Mount from Chelsea. Despite featuring in a significant number of games, only 23 of those were as a starter. As a result, Fred is contemplating his future in light of increased competition for playing time in Erik ten Hag’s midfield.
While Fulham has expressed interest, they have indicated that they do not agree with United’s valuation of the player. Fulham is considering alternative targets, including 21-year-old Andre Trindade from Fluminense. In addition to Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Roma have reached out to Fred’s representatives, although no progress has been made in their pursuit at this stage.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has emerged as the most serious contender for the midfielder’s services. However, because Fred is yet to make a decision regarding his departure from Manchester United, his future remains uncertain as the summer transfer window progresses.
