Man Utd Deal With Rashford Club Outing After Calling In Sick

January 30, (THEWILL) – Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has found himself in hot water after being spotted at a nightclub shortly after calling in sick and missing training last Friday. The 26-year-old England international was subsequently left out of United’s squad for their 4-2 FA Cup fourth-round victory over Newport County, on Sunday.

Initially, United had stated that Rashford was not well enough to feature in the match and had remained at the club’s Carrington training complex to continue his recovery. However, it has since emerged that the striker was seen enjoying himself at a nightspot in Belfast earlier last week.

When questioned about Rashford’s absence on Sunday, United manager Erik ten Hag told reporters that it was an “internal disciplinary matter” and that he would deal with the situation appropriately.

A club statement later confirmed that Rashford had “taken responsibility for his actions” and that the matter was now considered closed. However, this latest controversy has once again raised questions about player discipline under Ten Hag.

Rashford, who was United’s Players’ Player of the Year last season, will be hoping to refocus as the club faces an English Premier League trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday night. The forward has scored four goals in all competitions this campaign.
