October 20, (THEWILL) – In a 2-0 victory over Tottenham on Wednesday at Old Trafford, Manchester United put on perhaps their best performance of Erik ten Hag’s tenure.
In contrast to Saturday matchup with Newcastle United where the Red Devils were underwhelming and frequently lifeless, but against Antonio Conte’s Spurs United outplayed them from beginning to end.
Even though it was still goalless at the interval, United managed to take 19 shots in the first half, which was more than they had in any other league game played under Ten Hag.
That changed 16 seconds after the restart when Fred’s deflected shot went in, and 21 seconds later Bruno Fernandes’ exquisite finish sealed an amazingly easy victory.
On Saturday, when United play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, they will face another challenging test. Then, Newcastle will visit Tottenham the next day.
