May 26, (THEWILL) – Manchester United have secured qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League after a resounding 4-1 victory against Chelsea, as Erik ten Hag’s men showcased their prowess on the field.
The Dutch manager has led the Red Devils to success in the Carabao Cup and has guided them to the upcoming FA Cup final in what has been a promising first season. They experienced a recent wobble that threatened their top-four finish but Ten Hag managed to steer the team back on track.
United’s return to European football’s elite competition was sealed with a game to spare as Casemiro, Anthony Martial, Bruno Fernandes, and Marcus Rashford found the back of the net, while Chelsea struggled to optimise the opportunities that came their way. The defeat marked the 16th loss for Frank Lampard’s side in the 38-match English Premier League season, leaving them with a disappointing record.

Early in the game, a missed chance by Mykhailo Mudryk was swiftly punished by Casemiro’s sixth-minute header. Despite further chances throughout the evening, including Conor Gallagher’s miss just before halftime, Chelsea failed to convert. In the second half, Bruno Fernandes extended United’s lead with a penalty, and substitute Marcus Rashford added his 30th goal of the season in all competitions, securing a comprehensive victory.
The win was somewhat marred by Antony’s departure on a stretcher and Chelsea recorded a late consolation goal from Joao Felix. As the season draws to a close, Manchester United will face Fulham in their final match, while Chelsea will take on Newcastle, both on Sunday.
