Man Dies On Electric Pole Trying To Steal Cables In Ogun

November 21, (THEWILL) – A lifeless body of a yet-to-be identified man has been found on an electricity pole in Kobape, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State

The residents of the area woke up on Sunday morning and discovered the man’s corpse hanging in between the electric wire poles

A source said that the deceased must have climbed the poles to steal cables while others said he went up the pole to commit suicide but no signs that he was an official of the electricity distribution company.

“We woke up this morning to see the corpse of a man on the electricity pole. The death of the man is mysterious. We didn’t know how he died.”

“Maybe he wanted to commit suicide or he wanted to steal cables, only God knows,” the source said

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, when contacted, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta, the state capital

Oyeyemi said the man had attempted to steal electricity cables, dismissing rumour that he was on a suicide mission.

“The man climbed the pole, possibly he wanted to steal the wires. I don’t think he wanted to commit suicide, because he has cut some of the wires.”

“If he wanted to commit suicide, he only needed to climb the pole and hold the naked wire. But, according to the information at my disposal, he has cut some of the wires.”

“Maybe there was sudden power supply when he was cutting the cables,” he added

The Police PRO said that the corpse had been removed by the police, noting that the case is still being investigated.
