Man City Crowned Club Of The Year

October 18, (THEWILL) – In recognition of Manchester City’s standout campaign last season, the English side has been named Club of the Year at the 2022 Ballon d’Or awards.

The Cityzens once again outdid themselves domestically in the men’s game, defeating Liverpool in a tense title match to win their sixth English Premier League title and also making it to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

But, it was not just the male team that excelled. In addition to making it to the FA Cup final and winning the Women’s League Cup, City’s women’s squad overcame a rocky start to the WSL season to finish third in the league.

At the ceremony in Paris, nominees for awards included players like Lucy Bronze, who is now a player for Barcelona, Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahre, Ederson, Joao Cancelo, and Phil Foden. This is a testament to the club’s impressive performances over the course of the previous season.

Pep Guardiola’s team looked strong as usual and won the Premier League with 93 points, but Real Madrid upset City in a thrilling Champions League semifinal to once again prevent them from reaching the summit of Europe.
