Makurdi Agog Over PDP National Chairman, Ayu’s Visit

December 10, (THEWILL) – Residents of Makurdi, the Benue state capital, are in a joyous mood with social spots and parks witnessing high-level excitement over the expected arrival of the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, into town yesterday.

THEWILL’s checks revealed that at the Kenville Park, Makurdi, PDP loyalists led by Odiba Achigbe were seen discussing and being merry while other members converged at the newspaper stand to discuss Ayu’s arrival.

Members of the PDP across the state are expected to arrive Makurdi to witness his arrival even as some bill boards mounted on major streets in Makurdi town bear Ayu’s portrait and PDP flags.

The party’s state chairman, Sir John Ngbede, said party loyalists will converge at Agan tall gate at about 12: noon Saturday to receive Senator Ayu and his entourage.

In a statement, Ngbede said Senator Ayu will head to Benue Peoples House where he will pay a courtesy call on Governor Samuel Ortom. He will ater meet with PDP stakeholders in the state.

According to the statement, there will be an interdenominational church service in honour of Ayu at the Aper Aku Township Stadium, Makurdi on Sunday.

It added that, on Monday, the PDP national chairman will be in Gboko to witness what is referred to as ‘mega decamping’ where the three times member of the House of Representatives for Gboko/Tarka federal constituency, Dr. John Dyegh of the All Progressives Congress and his supports will decamp into the PDP.

The state PDP chairman, who called on Benue people to throw their support behind Governor Samuel Ortom’s administration, also invited people to throng to Oturkpo town on Tuesday to witness the decamping of an APC chieftain, ‘Ochacho’ to the PDP.
