August 30, (THEWILL) – The thigh injury Romelu Lukaku suffered during a training session on Sunday, will keep him out of action for at least a week, meaning that the Belgian forward will miss the season’s first city Derby for the Nerazzurri.
Lukaku, who will be evaluated again next week, will be forced to sit out Tuesday’s Serie A match against Cremonese and will not play in the weekend Milan derby against the reigning champions.
The Chelsea loanee is also unlikely to be able to play when Inter open their UEFA Champions League campaign against Bayern Munich the following week. The left flexor of Lukaku’s thigh was what he injured, according to a statement on Inter’s website.
Lukaku might be out for up to 20 days, which would prevent him from playing in future Serie A matches against Torino and Udinese as well as subsequent UCL matches against Viktoria Plzen.
At the moment, Inter has six points after three league games, winning against Lecce and Spezia before falling to Lazio on Friday.
