April 25, (THEWILL) – Atalanta booked their place in the Coppa Italia final after a dramatic 4-1 victory over Fiorentina in the semi-final second leg where Ademola Lookman both scored and assisted to get the win. Trailing 3-1 from the first leg, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side turned the tie around at the Gewiss Stadium, securing their 10th home win in 13 matches across all competitions.
The hosts took an early lead through Teun Koopmeiners’ strike, but Fiorentina levelled the tie when Lucas Martínez Quarta headed home. However, Nikola Milenkovic’s dismissal for denying a goalscoring opportunity proved costly, as Atalanta capitalised on their numerical advantage to devastating effect.
Gianluca Scamacca’s acrobatic effort restored parity, before substitute Lookman and Mario Pasalic, through Lookman’s through ball, struck late to seal a 4-1 win on the night. Despite Fiorentina’s resilience, Atalanta’s relentless pressure proved too much, booking their place in the final.
The victory extends Atalanta’s impressive home form, with Gasperini’s side now boasting 10 wins from their last 13 matches at the Gewiss Stadium across all competitions. Their attention now turns to the Coppa Italia final, where they will face Juventus.
